Is This A Good Fishing Reel?
Hi. i am going saltwater fishing at a pier this weekend. i am mainly going to use one rod. that rod is my shakespeare catch more fish surf/ pier 7 ' rod. my friend broke the reel, so i need to get a new one. i found one that would look great on the rod and has 11 ball bearings!!! it is on the dick 's website and is on sale for $50! (normally $80) i would love to buy it. but i would like to know if it is a good one. i would use it for saltwater pier fishing and they only have a size 30 in stores. even though it is normally a freshwater reel, would i be able to use it in saltwater? should i put braid or mono on? would it withstand braid? how many pounds test. sorry i can 't provide the link, but it is on the dick 's sporting goods website as pinnacle fishing matrix xt spinning reel. the rod can be found on the shakespeare website under combos > normal combos (not ugly stik) > kits > catch more fish combos > surf/ pier 7 '!!! please answer all questions asked in this one and give as much information as possible!!! thanx! Fishing Reel Maintenance Question?
I have a new diawa saltist baitcast reel and i seem to have a problem with it and i was curious if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it. i have numerous other baitcast reels and they all have an anti-reverse where when you try to reel the handle backwards it will not go back at all, it just has forward motion and when you pull the handle backwards there is no play at all it just stays in place. on this new reel the handle goes backward about 1-2 " after reeling forward. i have not even used it yet. i am wondering if any of you have any suggestions on what might be wrong (if anything) and how to fix it? i am just trying not to send it back to the factory if i don 't have to. What Fishing Reel Should I Get?
I mostly have my mind set on a spinning reel, but what is the best freshwater reel i can get for under 80$ at dicks sporting goods, i mostly fish for largemouths, crappie, but i want my reel to also have the power to haul in a big striper or catfish. i want it to be very smooth and reliable, any recommendations, remember i have a gift card to dicks so if they carry it than that would be great!!
